Advent 2025
Advent marks the beginning of the Christian year — a season of watching, waiting, and hope. It spans the four Sundays before Christmas and invites Christians to prepare their hearts for the coming of Christ: both his birth in Bethlehem and his promised return in glory. Traditionally, Advent is a time of reflection and renewal, symbolised by the lighting of candles on the Advent wreath, each representing themes such as hope, peace, joy, and love.
For Christians, Advent is not simply a countdown to Christmas, but a spiritual journey. It calls us to slow down amid the world’s busyness, to listen for God’s voice, and to make room for Christ in our lives once more. In this waiting, we are reminded that God’s light still shines in the darkness — and that love, quietly growing, transforms the world.
Introduction to The Advent Reflections
These daily reflections throughout the period of Advent are an invitation to step aside from the noise of life and listen for the voice of God in Scripture. Each day offers a short Bible passage along with a short reflection and prayer. You may choose to read each passage simply and prayerfully, or you may wish to go deeper using the ancient Christian practice of Lectio Divina, which means “divine reading.”
This way of praying with Scripture is not about study or analysis, but about slowing down and opening yourself to the presence of God. It is a way of letting the Word become not only something you hear, but something that shapes you from within.
If you set aside just ten or fifteen minutes a day, you may find that these moments become a wellspring, offering peace, clarity, and a deeper awareness of God’s love in your everyday life.
