St Mary-the-Virgin, Newington

St Mary's has been the home to a worshipping community from the village and the surrounding area for nearly 1000 years.

We seek to offer a warm welcome to anyone and everyone. We have a variety of services offering a mix of contemporary and more traditional styles of worship.

Our normal monthly service pattern (unless indicated):

1st Sunday       10.00am Morning Worship

2nd Sunday      10.00am Communion (traditional)

3rd Sunday       10.00am 'Stepping Stones'

(All-Age worship informal, accessible for families with children starting with tea and toast)

4th Sunday        10.00am Communion (informal)

For Christenings, Thanksgivings, Weddings, Marriage Blessings and Funerals please contact Rev. Julian Staniforth

Cornerstone Cafe: Every 3rd Thursday of the month from 9.30am to 12.00noon. Coffee, tea and delicious home made cakes. You are guaranteed a warm welcome. Bring your friends or just come along and make some new friends. The Community Warden is in attendance for any who need any advice.

Bell-ringing: We have a keen bell-ringing group, which includes both adults and young people, who ring most Sundays and at special events such as weddings. The ringers meet every Monday evening at 7.30pm, with young ringers normally meeting on Saturday morning at 10.00am. Contact Jackie Dyson (01795 842669) for more information.
